The Dene, Blaydon

Also known as Shibdon dene. This is a wooded area on the eastern edge of Blaydon bank. During World War Two it was the location of a warden's post. It also contains a Cowen Fountain which was provided by Joseph Cowen MP to provide safe drinking water to the people of Blaydon. A network of paths are woven through the dene.
