Gateshead Civic Centres Town Halls
This was Gateshead's third building to be
officially designated town hall. The foundation stone ceremony in 1868
was marred when a spectator stand collapsed causing one fatal injury.
The building opened in 1870 and remained the centre of Gateshead's civic
life until the present Civic Centre was opened in 1987
Gateshead Fire Service outside Town Hall 1900. To see it in larger form go here and use the search facility
